Where to begin.....

Wow, its been almost a month since I posted and so much has happened! Im trying to decide if I should get it all out in one post, or save the details for multiple posts......ok one at a time :)

SO, Brett finally got his first cold. :( We made it 7 1/2 whole months with out even a little sniffle and then.....Brett started school (aka daycare but I hate that word )  A few weeks ago I got a call from his school that Brett had a fever of 101. I ran to pick him up and we went straight to the Dr.....everything looked ok, just a cold :(

Well a week later- back to the Dr with a fever that was still lingering. We went for a quick beach trip to Charleston, SC and thought for sure that the salty sea air would kick what was left of the cold...NOPE. Tuesday morning he still had a fever- up to 103! Back to the Dr and thats when we heard that awful 2 words...Ear Infection! :( I was so sad for baby boy, but relieved we had a diagnoses and some yummy bubblegum medicine to go home with!

 Happy on the beach!

This is how he stopped his runny nose /:
SO sick :(

WELL- because a cold turned ear infection isn't bad enough, Brett's Dr. has been hearing a heart murmur since he was born, and kept saying it was normal and should go away...well it never went away so after one of his sick visits, she recommended he go to the cardiologist just to be safe. Well we went to the heart Doc the morning we were leaving for the beach...expecting to go in and out and be told it was nothing. Well, it turns out Brett has a PDA- Patent Ductus Arteriosis:

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital disorder in the heart wherein a neonate's ductus arteriosus fails to close after birth. Early symptoms are uncommon, but in the first year of life include increased work of breathing and poor weight gain. With age, the PDA may lead to congestive heart failure if left uncorrected.

Brett doesn't have any symptoms (except the murmur) and is perfectly healthy...but we still have to get this little opening closed. FORTUNATELY, it can be done through a vein in the leg and its an outpatient procedure. The Dr said we will wait until he is one to give it a chance to close on its own...but that is pretty unlikely. Luckily, this will have no afffect on his life at all and it will be as if it never happened!

SO, we are relieved to know its not too big of a deal...but it is still a big deal. At first I was thinking "what did my body do wrong when he was growing that this happened"? But I know its nothing I did or didn't do and its actually fairly common and a very routine fix.

SO, we go back to the Cardiologist in 3 months to see if the opening is closing...so say a little prayer, its possible! ;)

7 Months, Crawling and School!

Last week my baby turned 7 Months! He really is more like a little boy now than a baby. Brett started crawling about 2 weeks ago and he has gotten VERY fast! I cant believe he went from sitting quietly in  his swing to crawling all over the house and pulling up on EVERYTHING in such a short time! Needless to say, things around here have been super busy.

I have been fortunate to have my baby home with me for 7 months. My mom helped me a lot for 2 months and then Brett was back at home with me the last 3 weeks.....well let me tell you.....I work from home and working at home with a baby who is mobile is impossible very hard! So as much as I have loved having my baby boy home with, me- happy and healthy- it was time. Brett started school (aka daycare but I feel better calling it school) yesterday. I felt completely comfortable sending him for lots of reasons. He is one busy bee and I knew he ould LOVE all of the tpys, stimulation and other friends to play with! And, his school is less than 5 minutes away! Since I do work from home, there is no real rush to get him there, and I like that we can spend a little extra time in the morning if we want :)

Brett on his first day of school!
Showing me his teeth! (all 8 of them!)

Brett did great on his first day and 2nd day too! He was happy and didnt cry! :)
Here are some things he is doing now:

*Crawling- very fast :)
*Pulling up on everything, even the walls
*Waiving his arms in the air when he is excited
*Eating all stage 2 foods and has eaten a banana mashed up a few times
*Starting to say some consonants but nothing significant yet
*He can walk when we hold his hands
*LOVES drinking water out of his sippy cup and our cups as well
*Prefers to sleep on his belly now
*Wears 9-12 month clothes and size 4 diapers

And here are the 7 months pics....and some others I took with my new camera :)

Im still here!

Gosh, it feels like forever since I last posted! Things have been very busy around here! Brett has changed more in the last few weeks than any week so far! He now has 8 teeth! (I know, right!?) He can pull himself up, can crawl backwards and rolls all over the place. He can get back to sitting from any position and LOVES to stand up against our ottoman and bang. In other words....we NEVER sit down haha!

Brett will be starting school in 2 weeks and I am so excited! He is one busy little bee and I think the socialization and stimulation are just what he needs! I have been so blessed to have him home/with my mom for the last almost 7 months and know that he will now benefit from what the school has to offer...AND I can actually get my work done during the day! :)

We celebrated Easter 2 weeks ago and I caved and put my baby boy in a smocked sear sucker outfit! I was always DETERMINED to never dress my boy "frilly" but when I saw this outfit I couldn't resist.  And how cute is he!??

He had so much fun playing with his uncles, cousins, and grandparents!

This past weekend was my first Mothers Day. I can truly say it was the best day...I enjoyed it more than any birthday or other Holiday! Being a mom is a gift in itself and even though Brett has no idea what this day meant, it was so special. AND my husband didn't disappoint either! I am now a mommy to a Nikon D3100!!! Here are some pics from Mothers day and the last few days I have been playing with my new toy! :)

My sweet baby boy!
