5 Months!

Well my baby boy is 5 months old! I cant believe it...where has the time gone. He is really starting to look more like a little boy than a baby!

Brett is already such a BOY! He is busy, busy, busy, ALL THE TIME! He is constantly reaching for stuff, pulling my hair, smacking my face, or punching something. He can sit up all by himself and  gets really excited when he is sitting up- the kid has some serious lungs!  He can bear all his weight on his legs, and can even stand up holding onto something! As strong as he is though, he still doesnt roll tummy to back yet.....well he has once but we dont put him on his tummy that much so thats probably why :/

He eats 3-4 tbsp of oatmeal cereal every night and a fruit or veggie. He LOVES bananas, sweet potatoes and apples. We tried peas tonight for the first time and he threw up...literally! He really hated them...so we had sweet potatoes instead :)

Brett cut 2 teeth the week of his 4 month appointment, I know right? That is so early! He still loves chewing on everything so Im wondering if he has more coming soon?? I am still breastfeeding and have yet to be bitten :) Hopefully we can keep going wihtout incident!

Sleep is OK....on good nights Brett sleep 7:30-4 and other nights he wakes up at 2 and 6ish....and then slwwps til 7:30. Im still able to function and can't bear to let him cry so its working for us.

Brett is just so much fun and I love him more every day! Here are his 5 month pics and some others of what he has been up to!

He got Sprinkled!

Today was Brett's Baptism! It was such a perfect, wonderful day with family and loved ones! I was good and didnt cry, but I did get a little teary eyed. It was so sweet and Brett was an absoolute angel!
He was so cute and touched the preacher's face when he was walking with him. It means so much to me to have my baby baptised and I am so glad we got to share it with out whole family! Brett fell asleep after his part and slept almost the whole time. Then we went to my parents house for lunch and Brett got LOTS of love from all the family!

How you know Im a mom.....

  • My hair has not seen a hair dryer or flat iron in over a week. (Yes I have  washed it, but it takes way to long to style it!)
  •
  • My laundry consists of black yoga pants, tank tops and sweats. (I work from home so I can get away with this!)
  •
  • My Columbia fleece has never seen so much love!
  •
  • When I go to Target, I completely bypass the clothing section and head straight for the baby aisle...gotta love the $4 table :)
  •
  •  I feel like a queen when I get to sleep more than 3 hours in a row
  •
  • Our living room looks like Toys R Us the day after Christmas....and there is no point putting things away that will be pulled right back out the next day.
  •
  • I have not changed the sheets on our bed...even though there have been more than enough spit ups, diaper leaks etc within the last week
  •
  • My email is filled with deals from Carters, Babies R Us and Groupons where it used to be filled with shop it to me updates and Victorias Secret order confirmations.
  •
  • My highlights are 2 months over due...and I dont really care
  •
  • My iphone has 6873723872368764283764 pictures of the CUTEST baby in the world.
  •
  • In my purse, you can find a pair of socks, a few paci's, a rattle, a bottle cap and a diaper....in addition to the ridiculous amount of grown up items that are in there.
  •
  • I no longer watch the Today Show in the morning. I now turn my TV to the disney channel for Mickey Mouse Playhouse....and can sing along with ALL of the songs!
I absolutely LOVE my lfe and LOVE being a mamma more than anything. Its funny how things have changed and the things that you thought were so important are so easy to give up!

Gatlinburg

This past weekend me, my husband, our baby boy and my in-laws  headed to Gatlinburg, TN for a nice long weekend. I had never been to Gatlinburg before and thought it would be a nice relaxing break from our everyday schedules.

Josh and I began looking for cabins along the river and saw some great possibilities, but our efforts were cut short when my MIL called to say she had booked us place! I was a little surprised, since she usually checks with us first, but figured it was just as well. My MIL said a family member recommended this place and said it was called the Four Seasons. Well, you can imagine how excited I was....THE Four Seasons!  This would be great!

Packing with a baby :)

We headed out Thursday morning and kicked off our long weekend with a yummy country breakfast at Cracker Barrel. The trip was easy, and Brett was an angel, sleeping most of the way there.

We finally pulled into Gatlinburg around 2 in the afternoon. Wow, this place was like a red neck Las Vegas! There were flashing lights, arcades, mini golf, and candy kitchens on every corner! Not to mention no less than 120938098203 pancake houses! :) I can see why my husband had such fond memories of this place as a kid....it was a kids fantasy!

Well, we located our lodging and I was a little surprised when I saw the sign...it was the Four Seasons alright. The Four Seasons Motor Lodge....hmmmmmmmm.  Oh well simple mistake, lets go to our room. The sweet southern lady in the office said "ya'll are in the High rise" and we were instructed to go up a dark, moldy staircase where we opened the door to  hell...haha kidding, but it was pretty bad.

The carpet was old and maroon, and fraying near the walls. It smelled like mold. It really looked like someones 1970's cabin that had been abandoned. I really wish we took pictures. There was no way I was going to let my baby play on that floor. Thankfully everyone agreed and we walked back to the office.

After a little more convincing than I think was needed, we got our money back and went down the road looking for another hotel.

We actually ended up at a GORGEOUS double tree hotel that had an awesome indoor pool and water slide! And other than spending double what we had planned, it was great! :)

Shopping with Sophie ...aka George the Giraffe

We bought Brett his first baseball hat!

We spent the weekend walking through the shops downtown, the outlet mall, and playing in the pool! It was Brett's first time in the water and he loved it! He was a little unsure at first, but it grew on him. He really loved the hot tub! Im glad he liked the water and cant wait to take him to the pool this summer!
