This past weekend me, my husband, our baby boy and my in-laws headed to Gatlinburg, TN for a nice long weekend. I had never been to Gatlinburg before and thought it would be a nice relaxing break from our everyday schedules.
Josh and I began looking for cabins along the river and saw some great possibilities, but our efforts were cut short when my MIL called to say she had booked us place! I was a little surprised, since she usually checks with us first, but figured it was just as well. My MIL said a family member recommended this place and said it was called the Four Seasons. Well, you can imagine how excited I was....THE Four Seasons! This would be great!
Packing with a baby :)
We headed out Thursday morning and kicked off our long weekend with a yummy country breakfast at Cracker Barrel. The trip was easy, and Brett was an angel, sleeping most of the way there.
We finally pulled into Gatlinburg around 2 in the afternoon. Wow, this place was like a red neck Las Vegas! There were flashing lights, arcades, mini golf, and candy kitchens on every corner! Not to mention no less than 120938098203 pancake houses! :) I can see why my husband had such fond memories of this place as a kid....it was a kids fantasy!
Well, we located our lodging and I was a little surprised when I saw the sign...it was the Four Seasons alright. The Four Seasons Motor Lodge....hmmmmmmmm. Oh well simple mistake, lets go to our room. The sweet southern lady in the office said "ya'll are in the High rise" and we were instructed to go up a dark, moldy staircase where we opened the door to hell...haha kidding, but it was pretty bad.
The carpet was old and maroon, and fraying near the walls. It smelled like mold. It really looked like someones 1970's cabin that had been abandoned. I really wish we took pictures. There was no way I was going to let my baby play on that floor. Thankfully everyone agreed and we walked back to the office.
After a little more convincing than I think was needed, we got our money back and went down the road looking for another hotel.
We actually ended up at a GORGEOUS double tree hotel that had an awesome indoor pool and water slide! And other than spending double what we had planned, it was great! :)
Shopping with Sophie ...aka George the Giraffe
We bought Brett his first baseball hat!
We spent the weekend walking through the shops downtown, the outlet mall, and playing in the pool! It was Brett's first time in the water and he loved it! He was a little unsure at first, but it grew on him. He really loved the hot tub! Im glad he liked the water and cant wait to take him to the pool this summer!
Hahahhahaha! I love the blog today. I felt like I lived it with you! Glad you had fun! ~Allison
